By 2040, Lewisham will be renewed as a modern metropolitan centre and employment hub. A re-routed South Circular (A205) will create generous areas of public realm in Catford and enable a significant regeneration reinforcing its civic and cultural character. A central growth corridor follows the A21 and signals the potential for thousands of new and genuinely affordable homes, modern workspace and community facilities over the next 20 years. Securing the Bakerloo Line extension could deliver a new transport hub at Catford and unlock investment across the entire area.
The Local Plan sets out objectives for a number of areas including Lewisham Shopping Centre, PLACE/Ladywell, Catford Shopping Centre and Milford Towers as well as walking and cycling routes - Central Lewisham Links.
